Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how WeDo ("the App" or "we") collects, uses, shares, and protects the personal information of users who install or use the App. By using the App you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information: phone number, name, profile details, role (worker/client).
• Authentication data: credentials used to sign in, and SMS verification codes sent to confirm your phone number.
• Profile and preferences you provide, including photos and videos you post.
• Communication content: messages, voice notes, and call metadata exchanged through the App (stored to deliver the service).
• Device information: a push-notification token so we can alert you to calls and messages, and basic device/usage data.
• Payment data: when using paid features we use third-party mobile money processors; we do not store your payment card or mobile money PIN in the App.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to provide, maintain and improve the App, authenticate users, enable chat and calls, process payments, detect abuse and fraud, and communicate important notices. Rafiki (our in-app assistant) and Job Finder (web job search) send your message or search terms to Google's Gemini AI to generate a response; we don't use your other account data to train any AI model.

4. When Your Phone Number Is Shared

Your phone number is never shown on your public profile. The one exception: if a worker is offline when a client tries to call them in-app, WeDo shows that client the worker's phone number so the call can still be made directly over the regular phone network. This only happens when the in-app call can't be delivered.

5. Sharing and Third Parties

We share information with the service providers who run WeDo on our behalf: Firebase/Google Cloud (authentication, storage, notifications, and the AI features above), Twilio (SMS verification codes), Agora (voice/video calls), and Selcom/Airtel (mobile money payment processing). Each only receives what it needs to perform its service. We don't sell your personal data.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data as long as necessary to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Edit Profile, which removes your posts, messages, and profile data.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@wedo.com.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
